Supported environmental activitsts and gave a platform to their serious concerns about our district’s loss of trees due to resiliency plans that prioritize construction over trying to preserve plant and animal life
Rallied with neighbors, wrote letters to pressure City agencies, and called for hearings to stop the complete destruction of East River Park
Advocated for bike lane improvements to the BMCR to improve the safety of people travelling south from the Lower East Side
Testified for increased funding to protect our district’s lowest sea-level point at the South Street Seaport
Invested in the long-term environmental health of Lower Manhattan
Funded more trees and tree-guards to expand our district’s canopy, and reduce its temperature during the summer
Worked with nonprofit partners to host e-waste recycling, paper-shredding, and increased hours for compost drop sites
Purchased new trash bins to keep litter off the streets and out of our waterways
Opened two new parks, one in SoHo and by Pier 42 on the Lower East Side
Allocated $6 million to revitalize Sara D Roosevelt Park and secured funding to finally fix the Allen and Pike Street Malls
Organized to defend Little Italy’s only open green space, Elizabeth Street Garden
